Huron Country Playhouse Announces 2010 Playbill

Tickets on Sale for Drayton Entertainment’s 2010 Season.

GRAND BEND – Drayton Entertainment has unveiled its 2010 playbill, which consists of a world premiere production, smash-hit Broadway shows, lively dramas, and lighthearted comedies. Twenty-one productions will be presented at six historic venues in four distinctive Ontario destinations, in an impressive season that begins this April and continues right through December.
“Drayton Entertainment strives to provide audiences with the best choices for their entertainment dollar and we are delighted by the enthusiastic response to our 2010 Season,” says Artistic Director Alex Mustakas.
Tickets officially went on sale to the general public January 4th.
“The diverse mix of programming in our 2010 Season combined with our commitment to providing quality professional entertainment at a price that is accessible to everyone, is the very foundation of the unique Drayton Experience,” says Mustakas. “We are excited to provide so many different kinds of audiences with opportunities to experience the magic of live theatre.”
Huron Country Playhouse, Grand Bend
The 2010 Season kicks-off with the Disney sensation, High School Musical. Canadian pop singer Melissa O’Neil, who reached stardom as the third season winner of Canadian Idol (2005), will reprise her role as Gabriella in this highly anticipated production. Watch as Troy and Gabriella surf the tricky tides of peer pressure and school cliques to follow their dreams and find a place in each other’s heart. Fun for the entire family; bring your children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews for the world-wide phenomenon on stage May 18th through June 5th. Local youth also have an exciting opportunity to star as chorus members alongside professional performers in this production of High School Musical. “High School Musical presents an incredible opportunity for a new generation to discover live theatre,” says Mustakas. “We’re thrilled to give aspiring young performers the chance to appear on stage and work side-by-side with professional actors in this energetic and family-friendly musical.”
Experience the magic of 1960’s New York and the misadventures of Charity Hope Valentine in the beloved musical Sweet Charity. Featuring such unforgettable song and dance numbers as “Big Spender”, “Rhythm of Life” and “Rich Man’s Frug” this funny, poignant, and hopeful look at love entertains audiences June 9th through June 26th.
Following a 2009 sold-out run in Drayton and Penetanguishene Country Legends comes to Grand Bend! Fusing elements of classic country, gospel, and bluegrass with hilarious comedy and dance, this toe-tappin’, foot-stompin’ salute features the legendary music of Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Conway Twitty, Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton, Patsy Cline, and many, many more. Conceived, Written and Directed by Alex Mustakas, Country Legends is a captivating walk down memory lane. Don’t miss it June 30th through July 24th.
Next on the playbill is the Canadian premiere of Cagney!, a fascinating celebration of silver screen legend James Cagney. His story takes on a new life is this spirited musical biography that intersperses five decades of the actor’s movie career with brilliant song and dance numbers such as “Yankee Doodle Dandy”, “Grand Old Flag”, and “Give My Regards to Broadway”. Cagney!, starring Broadway performer and Drayton Entertainment veteran Robert Creighton, takes centre stage in Grand Bend July 28th through August 7th.
The season culminates with the world premiere of Dance Legends*, a dazzling tribute to the legendary dancers and choreographers who expressed the complexity of the human experience in a way that words or music simply could not. Brimming with music, comedy, and plenty of e-motion, this Drayton Entertainment original production follows smash hits Twist and Shout: The British Invasion, Legends, and Country Legends. This new visual spectacle will leave you energized and inspired, August 11th through September 4th.

Ticket Information
Drayton Entertainment offers many ways to save off the regular ticket price, including flexible subscription packages that enable theatregoers to book tickets to any performance, at any theatre, for any date. When theatregoers buy tickets to four, five, six, or even seven different productions, they can save more than 30% off the regular ticket price. Groups of 20 or more also save close to 15%.
Individual theatre tickets are $39.00 for adults; $20.00 for youth 18 and under, and $33.00 for preview performances.
If you are planning to attend any show in the 2010 Season, buy your tickets before April 30th to avoid the new HST, which comes into effect on May 1st, 2010
